DEATH:
Pvt. Hodlin Killed In Action In Holland
 Pvt. Orville N. Hodlin, 27, formerly of Champlain, was killed in action in Holland on October 19th, according to a telegram received by his wife last week from the War Department.  Other details have not yet been made available.  Pvt. Hodlin was born in Worcester, Mass. and is a son of Margaret Hodlin (now Mrs. John Dragoon), of Plattsburg, and the late Orville D. Hodlin.  Mrs. Edison aubrey, of Champlain, is a sister.
 Pvt. Hodlin was inducted into the service on Jan 25, 1944, and received his basic training at Camp Blanding, Fla.  He went overseas to England with his unit late in July and was sent to France later seeing action with the American forces invading Holland.  He had seen action in France, Belgium and Holland.
 Pvt. Hodlin attended school at Champlain and Ellenburg, and later was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp.  Surviving besides his wife and mother are three daughters: Catherine, 8, Barbara, 4, and Linda, who is six months old.

 MASEENA - Mrs. Irene Patnode Hodlin, 58, of 8 Burney Ave., the widow of the late Orville Hodlin, died Aug. 1 at the Highland Nursing Home, where she had been a patient for several months.
 She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Paul (Catherine) Guyette, Mrs. Barbara Monroe, Mrs. David (Linda) Glickman; her mother, Mrs. Jennie Patnode of Ellenburg; seven grandchildren; two sisters and three brothers.
 Funeral services were held Saturday at Sacred Heart Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery.

 ELLENBURG DEPOT – Funeral services for Rufus H. Patnode, 81, who died at his home here Sunday after a long illness, will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Edmund’s Church in Ellenburg.  
  Patnode, a retired carpenter, was born in Churubusco July 20, 1882, the son of John and Jane (Hawksby) Patnode.
 He had lived in Ellenburg for 45 years.
 He is survived by his wife, the former Jennie Barcomb; six sons, Raymond of Pittsburgh, Floyd of Massena, Francis of Ellenburg, Walter of Syracuse, Gerald of Baltimore, Md., and William of Hayward, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Roxie Sweeney of Big Sur, Calif., Mrs. Irene Hodlin of Massena and Mrs. Harold (Madora) LaBombard of Massena; a brother, John of Pittsfield, Mass., and a sister, Mrs. Dayton Hutchins of Ellenburg Center.
 The body is at the Drown Funeral Home where calling hours, are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
 Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Ellenburg Center.

 Funeral services for Catherine A. Hodlin, 74, of Gouverneur and Watertown, will be held on Friday, Feb. 25, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Phillips Memorial Home, Massena with Rev. Daniel Deluca presiding.
 Friends and family may be received on Friday from 12:00 noon until the time of the funeral. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Catherine passed away on Feb. 20, 2011 at Samaritan Hospital.
 Catherine is survived by her children, Rose Guyette of Massena, Rodney Guyette of Winthrop, Diane Neuroth of Gouverneur, and Cindy and husband Chester Rathbun of Briar Hill; 18 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Lynda Burns of Winthrop, and Barbara Catanzarite of Massena.
 Catherine was born October 11, 1936 in Lake Placid, the daughter of Orville, and Irene (Patnode) Hodlin.
 Catherine's marriage to Paul Guyete ended in divorce. Catherine had resided in Whispering Pines in Watertown for the past nine years.
