Patsy C. Kahre, 82, of Bartlesville, went home to the Lord Thursday evening.
Patsy (Pat) Charlotte Kahre was born Aug. 13, 1931, to John Joy and Hazel Joy. She was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, and attended Wichita High School East graduating in 1949. As she was growing up, Pat was blessed with private lessons and became an accomplished classical pianist – developing a God-given talent she would later use to bless others by playing the church piano.
Patsy was working as an AT&T operator when she met Leroy Kahre and they were united in marriage in 1952, in Wichita, Kansas. They moved first to Lawrence, Kansas, while LeRoy attended Kansas University, before moving to Bartlesville where both husband and wife worked at Phillips Petroleum Co. Pat worked as a switchboard operator at Phillips, part-time secretary at Redeemer Lutheran Church while raising her two children and as an Activity Director at local nursing centers. LeRoy preceded her in death on December 26th, 1977. In 1982, she remarried Leroy's brother Albert who also had lost his first wife of many years. The new couple enjoyed 25 years of marriage. Albert worked for Boeing and she moved back to Wichita, then Seattle and ended up living at Lake Keystone for many years. While living in at Lake Keystone she was active in the Garden Club. After moving back to Bartlesville in 2000, Albert preceded her in death in 2007.
Pat loved crafts, embroidery and crosstitch and participated in the Washington County Free Fair for many years. She volunteered her time with cub scouts, girl scouts and VBS at her church. She was a longtime member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. After her 2nd husband's retirement, they enjoyed traveling across the United States in a travel trailer visiting friends and family. She also loved spending time with her extended family and grandchildren and could be found attending school and church functions until her health failed.
Pat is survived by her two children, John Christian Kahre and DeAnna of Ramona, Kaye Annette Fitz and Carl of College Station, TX, one step son Garry Kahre of Topeka, KS, four grandchildren Aaron Kahre, Rebecca Kahre, Carl Fitz, and Michael Fitz, five step grandchildren, Joe and Amber Kahre, Kristia Poppe, Alisa Kahre and Tania Kahre, many great grandchildren, two great, great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
