 PITTSFIELD -- John Bernardini, 92, of 46 State St., died Wednesday at Berkshire Medical Center.
 Born in Bologna, Italy, on Dec. 8, 1906, a son of Gabriel and Domenica Castelli Bernardini, he attended Italian schools. In 1929 he came to the United States, first settling in LaSalle, Ill. In 1931 he moved to Pittsfield.
 He was employed as a chef at several local restaurants and then for the former Pittsfield General Hospital, now Berkshire Medical Center, for 21 years. He retired from his position of head chef in 1974.
 His married his second wife, Carmella Sinopoli Hinckley Bernardini on April 15, 1967. She died Feb. 1, 1992. His first wife, the former Fonsa Bondi, died August 12, 1965.
 Mr. Bernardini was a communicant of St. Mark's Church in Pittsfield and belonged to the Ralph J. Froio Senior Center. He enjoyed cooking and gardening.
 He leaves two stepdaughters, Katherine Cole of Lanesboro and Shirley Eichelser of Pittsfield, a sister in Italy, four step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.

  FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mr. John Bernardini, 92, died Wednesday, Aug. 4. Survivors include two stepdaughters, Katherine Cole of Lanesboro and Shirley Eichelser of Pittsfield, a sister, of Italy, four step-grandchildren and seven-step-great grandchildren. Funeral services will take place Saturday, Aug. 7, at 8:15 a.m. from the BENCIVENGA-DAGNOLI MONTAGNA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Mark's Church celebrated by the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor of St. Joseph's Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Pittsfield. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Fri. Aug. 6, from 4 to 7 p.m.
