Leo P. LETOURNEAU was born 1 on 5 Jun 1920. He died 1 on 17 Nov 2003. He was buried in Rouses Point, Clinton, New York, United States. Leo married Ruth L. AUBREY on 5 Jun 1943.

OBITUARY:
Leo P. Letourneau
Rouses Point, N.Y. - Leo P. Letourneau, passed away on Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at the Cedar Hedge Nursing Home with his wife of 60 years, Ruth, at his side.
Leo, a native of Rouses Point, attended school there and upon graduation went on to Cornell University where he completed a two year program in the study of x-ray procedures, bacteriology and serology.
In 1941 he enlisted in the Army where he served as a Master Sergeant, Chief Radiographer and Medical Sergeant.  In 1943, he married Ruth L. Aubrey of Rouses Point and in 1950 returned to the North Country where he and Ruth have remained.
Leo has touched the lives of many people through his favorite hobby of helping people and meeting their needs.  To do this Leo's civic mindedness led him to serve as Mayor of the Village of Rouses Point for 12 years, as Town of Champlain Justice for 16 Years and as the supervisor of the Town of Champlain for 15 years.  Leo retired from the New York State Department of Corrections, spending his entire career at the Correctional Facility in Dannemora, N.Y.
Without a doubt though, the greatest rewards Leo has experienced were those associated with his involvement in the area's emergency medical services.  As a member of the Rouses Point Montgomery Hose Hook and Ladder Company, since 1956, Leo served as a volunteer fireman and an emergency medical technician, taking every opportunity he could to respond to emergencies.  As the captain of the Rouses Point Rescue Squad for 30 years and a certified instructor, Leo worked extensively in the training of fireman and laymen in the techniques of basic first aid, advanced first aid, CPR and EMT certification, at area high schools and community colleges as well as other north country fire departments.
Leo has also served as a member and past grand knight for the Knights of Columbus Council in Rouses Point, chaplain for the Rouses Point American Legion Post 912, chaplain for the Rouses Point Fire Department, president of the NYS Supervisors Association, president of the Clinton County Magistrates Association, member of the Committee for DWI and chairman of the Rouses Point 4th of July Parade.
Leo's greatest quality was that he never said "no" to anyone needing assistance.  His devotion to community and to God is a credit to his kindness and dedication to others.  As a Eucharistic Minister and Trustee for the St. Patrick's Church in Rouses Point, Leo was able to bring communion to others, unable to attend Mass.  He was humbled by this privilege and reverent in carrying out his duties in the name of God.
Leo is survived by his wife, Ruth; a son, Dan and daughter-in-law, Jan of Rouses Point; a daughter, Mary Lynn and son-in-law, Kenneth Lynn of Essex Junction, Vt.; a sister, Bertha Letourneau of Rouses Point; and four grandchildren, Nicolas and Matthew Letourneau, Jacob Lynn and Bridget O'Connor; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Letourneau of Rouses Point; many nieces and nephews.
Leo was predeceased by his twin brother, Paul and his older brother, George.
Calling hours will be at the Clark Funeral Home on Lake Street in Rouses Point on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.  A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at St. Patrick's Church in Rouses Point.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rouses Point Rescue Squad.

OBITUARY:
ROUSES POINT -- With a song in her heart, Ruth L. Letourneau, 82, went with the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007, at the Meadowbrook Nursing Home, with her family at her side.
She was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., to Harrison and Irene (Cowette) Aubrey on Nov. 6, 1924, and was lovingly named after her father's baseball idol, Babe Ruth. She was raised in Rouses Point and following her graduation from high school, married Leo Letourneau on June 5, 1943. They moved to East Orange, N.J., with the U.S. Army and returned to their hometown in 1950.
Ruth was employed by Key Bank for 29 years and enjoyed serving her customers from both the United States and Canada. While she was always active in the political arena, serving as Democratic county chairman for several years, her main love was music. Ruth cherished her years as director of the St. Patrick's choir, whose voices brought pleasure to all who attended services there. She combined her love of music with a theatrical flair by organizing and conducting holiday concerts, including the choir's raucous floats which were always a highlight of the annual Rouses Point Fourth of July celebration. In addition, she produced a St. Patrick's choir album, which to this day is enjoyed by many of her friends and fellow choir members.

OBITUARY:
Theresa Penfield
ROUSES POINT -- Theresa Penfield, 78, passed away on Jan. 18, 2006.  Theresa was born in Rouses Point on July 12, 1927, to Harrison and Irene (Caouette) Aubrey.  She and her father shared the same birthday and celebrated together throughout his life.  Theresa attended school in Rouses Point, graduating with a business degree from Rouses Point High School in 1945.
After graduation, Theresa worked for Ayerst McKenna and Plattsburgh State University before taking a job at Sheridan Ironworks, which would come to be her second home and second family.  In 1960, Theresa married Raymond Penfield and had two daughters.  Theresa was first and foremost a loving mother.  She left Harris in 1962 to raise her family, returning in 1978 after a 16 year maternity leave.  Theresa took tremendous pride in her work as a personnel administrator and treasured her friendships with fellow employees at Harris.  When Harris Graphics closed in 1987, Theresa and her husband Raymond began almost 20 years of retirement together, during which they enjoyed travels in Europe and the states and in later years spending time with their young grandchildren.  Theresa, with her ever-present smile and boundless energy, always had a special way with children and "Nana" will be dearly missed by her grandchildren.
Rouses Point was Theresa's home for her entire 78 years and the Village, its residents and her Pratt Street neighbors were all sources of great joy to her.  Theresa extolled the special qualities of her hometown in all of her travels, often inviting people to visit "the beautiful little community on Lake Champlain, nestled between the Green Mountains and the Adirondacks."  Theresa served as Village Clerk and she was a member and officer of the Altar and Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters of St. Patrick's Church.  She was a founding member of St. Patrick's Choir and her beautiful soprano voice will be missed by many.
Theresa is survived by her loving husband Raymond; her daughter Kelly; her daughter and son-in-law Melissa and Harry McManus; and four grandchildren: Rian (McManus) Branch, Conor McManus and Devin and Meara McManus.  Theresa is also survived by her beloved sister, Ruth Letourneau and her much-loved nieces and nephews: Dan, Jan, Nick and Matt Letourneau; Mary, Kenneth and Jacob Lynn; and Bridget O'Connor, to whom she was always "Tesa".
Calling hours will be held at the Clark Funeral Home in Rouses Point on Friday, Jan. 20, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church in Rouses Point on Saturday, Jan. 21, at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Theresa's name to the Rouses Point Rescue Squad.
