Mrs. Freeman Aubrey Passed Away On Sunday
Native of Rouses Point, Local Woman had Been Ill Ten Weeks
Mrs. Freeman Aubrey, 65 years old and a lifetime resident of Rouses Point, passed away Sunday evening at her home on Rose avenue following an illness of about ten weeks. Survivors include her husband and eight children, six of whom reside in this village.
Mrs. Aubrey had not been in good health since the death of her daughter, Margaret, a year ago and had been ill in bed since July of this year. Pneumonia developed Saturday morning and she passed away at 8:15 P.M. Sunday. While not entirely unexpected, death came as a shock to the members of her family and scores of friends in this section.
The deceased was the former Mary Ellen Callaghan, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Callaghan, of Rouses Point. She was born here on May 3, 1872, attended the local schools, and married Freeman Aubrey in 1890. Eleven children were born to the union, eight of whom survive.
Mrs. Aubrey was a devoted mother, a good neighbor, and was very highly regarded in the community. She was a member of St. Patrick's R.C. Church.
Funeral services were held at St. Patrick's R.C. Church at 9 A.M., Wednesday, the Rev. George Garrand, pastor, officiating at a requiem high mass. The church choir sang several favorite hymns of the deceased, and Mrs. Clement Aubrey and Harold D. Ashline sang a duet. Bearers were the six sons of Mrs. Aubrey. Interment was in the family plot in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
The deceased is survived by her husband, Freeman Aubrey; six sons: Ernest, of Ogdesnburg; Harold, of Albany; and Herbert, Clement, Harrison and Leo Aubrey, of Rouses Point; two daughters: Miss Ione Aubrey and Mrs. Rollie Clark, Rouses Point; and two sister: Mrs. N.C. DeBeaumont, of Rouses Point, and Mrs. A. Ross, of Westborough, Ont. There are 17 grandchildren.
Among the out of town relatives for the funeral were Mrs. and Mrs. Ernest Aubrey, Mr. and Mrs. Ross, Mrs. Victor Bibeau and Harold Aubrey.
