Chad David RAY

OBITUARY:
Chad David Ray, 51, of Ripley, WV was welcomed to his eternal home in Heaven by his Lord and Savior, Jesus on January 30, 2021. He passed from home to Glory surrounded by his loving family. After suffering a stroke in 2017, he endured multiple surgeries and ultimately succumbed to an infection. He fought the fight of faith, his race has been run, and received his crown as a good and faithful servant.
Chad is survived by his wife, Vanessa (McCormick) Ray, having recently celebrated their 31st anniversary. He respected, cherished, protected, and loved her with all his heart; being the example of how Christ loves the church. He raised up four children: Kelsey Renae (who passed away from a car accident at age 23 but believed to have welcomed her dad in Heaven); Swanagan (Tai) of Johns Island, SC; Salathiel (Carlie Wolfe) of Charleston, WV; and Elijah (Catherine) of Evans, WV. Chad also left behind a granddaughter, Zooey, who he loved dearly and enjoyed teasing her and teaching about Jesus. Chad also has two other grandchildren on the way whom he rejoiced in and loved already and there were several other children whom he claimed as his own.
Chad was born to Raymond (Luana) and Carolyn Dillinger (Jim) on May 8, 1969 in Parkersburg, WV and siblings, Dan (Melinda) and Kelly. Chad also leaves behind his mother-in-law Peggy, who became his second mom, many nephews and nieces, and dear friends.
Chad graduated from Wirt County High School in 1987, being very involved in wrestling and having earned the state championship title his senior year. He considered this a great accomplishment, but it soon became secondary when he gave his heart to Jesus and began to fight the good fight of faith. From that time to his death, he was wrestling not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Eph. 6:12
From a young age, Chad began working with his dad in construction and became a partner in the family business. He went on to be Master Electrician and business owner himself. He had the privilege of training and working with his sons on many jobs. Along with working with his own business, worked at Wood County Habitat for Humanity as Project Manager and taught at Washington County Career Center. Whatever job he was doing, he formed lasting relationships.
Chad was a faithful servant of The Lord, always ready to give an answer of the hope that laid within him, with meekness and fear. 1 Peter 3:13 He enjoyed being with friends and family, being a lover of hospitality and sharing stories. He was a gentle, kind, but steadfast soul who showed love to everyone he met. He made everyone feel important, and deeply cared for everyone with whom he crossed paths. He left an impression on most and will be deeply missed by so many. He enjoyed genealogy, having found he was in the rare Haplo A group. He also enjoyed taking his family on various trips, usually involving history or the outdoors. Beside The Lord, his wife and family were his priority and love.
In celebration of Chad's life, as Chad said many times, "it's not dying but living." His funeral service is planned for Monday, February 1st, 2021 at Waybright Funeral Home in Ripley, WV. at 6 to 7 for visitation with the memorial beginning at 7pm. Please use decernment during this time of virus and the flu.
