 Betty L. Layfield, 74 of Elizabeth, West Virginia, went to be with the Lord on May 24, 2009 at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital.
 She was born April 15, 1935 in Wirt County the daughter of the late Chester and Clover (Valentine) Bell.
 She was a homemaker and a life long member of the Pine Twist Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, making quilts, camping, reading and collecting cookbooks.
 She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Curtis "Luke" Layfield; four children, Patsy (Randy) McClung, Jeff (Toni) Layfield, Tracy Joan Layfield all of Elizabeth and Scott (Sally) Layfield of Vienna; two grandchildren, Matthew McClung and Reagan Layfield; one brother, Bill Bell; and 3 sisters, Dorothy Ash, Alma Lee Morris and Sharon Hutchinson all of Elizabeth, WV.
 In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Bell.
 Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 27 at Matheny Whited Funeral Home, Elizabeth with Pastor Bricle Douglas and Rev. Dean Ash officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday May 26 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of the service.

 She was born Dec. 3, 1937 the daughter of the late Chester and Clover (Valentine) Bell.
 She was a graduate of Wirt County High School, and enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, reading and crocheting.
 She is survived by her husband of 50 years, David Morris; 1 son, Bill (Kathy) Morris of Grantsville WV; 1 brother, Billy (Martha) Bell of Ritchie County; 2 sisters, Dorothy Ash of Elizabeth, Sharon Hutchinson of Newark WV, step grandchildren, Sheila Hymes of Spencer WV, Kristi Roudebush of Spencer, Scott Sampson of Grantsville; step great grandchildren, Courtney Dawson and Chloe Roudebush of Spencer, Hailey and Tyler Sampson of Spencer, and several nieces and nephews.
 In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Kelly Jo Morris; 1 sister, Betty Layfield; and 1 brother, Carl Bell.
 Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30 at Matheny Whited Funeral of Elizabeth WV with Rev. Dean Ash officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday.
 Interment will be at Pine Twist Cemetery.

 Martha Jean Watson Joy, 57, of Elizabeth died Dec. 18, 2001, at her residence. She is the daughter of the late Melvin and Zelma Goff Watson, and she was a homemaker.
  She is survived by her husband, Roger L. Joy; a son, Donald L. Joy of Elizabeth; a daughter, Paula J. Joy of Elizabeth; two sisters, Lily Sheppard and husband, Floyd, of Newcomerstown, Ohio, and Maxine Law, and husband, Roger, of Port Washington, Ohio; three brothers, Robert Watson and wife, Arlene, of Newcomerstown, Paul Watson and wife, Marie, of Canton, Ohio, and Ronnie Watson and wife, Barb, also of Newcomerstown.
  She was preceded in death by an infant brother.
  Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Matheny Pomroy Funeral Home of Elizabeth, with the Rev. Dan Ash officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Twist Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today and Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time.

 Robert Larry "Bobby" Ash Jr., 29, of Elizabeth passed away at Ohio State University Hospital Tuesday evening.
 He was born in Parkersburg, the son of Robert Larry Ash of Elizabeth and Kenneth and Eva Ilene Joy Houchin of Elizabeth.  Bobby attended Wirt County schools and was a graduate of the class of 1995.  He was an employee of Wal-mart Superstore of south Parkersburg in maintenance.
 Also surviving are paternal grandparents, Robert C. and Dorothy Jean Bell Ash of Elizabeth; a stepbrother, Aaron Houchin of Elizabeth; two stepsisters, Chasity Houchin of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Stephanie Houchin of Belpre; and several aunts and uncles.
 He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Charles and Madeline Stull Joy; paternal great-grandparents, Roy and Charity Ash and Clover Bell; maternal great-grandparents, Floyd and Cynthia Joy and Ward and Eva Stull.
 Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Matheny Pomroy Funeral Home.  Burial will be in the Pine Twist Cemetery of Wirt County.  Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday.

 He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents: Charles and Madeline Stull Joy; paternal great-grandparents, Roy and Charity Ash and Clover Bell; maternal great-grandparents, Floyd and Cynthia Joy and Ward and Eva Stull.
