Thelma M. Rymer, 79, of Parkersburg, WV died Friday May 13, 2016 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born in Wirt County, WV a daughter of the late John P. and Sylvia (Joy) Twyman.
She retired from the Wood County Board of Education, where she was a Teacher's Aid. She was a member of Lubeck Church of Christ and loved spending time at the Senior Citizen's Center.
She is survived by three sons Robert E. Hoce (Patty) of Reedsville, OH, Greg A. Rymer of Wyoming, and Nelson Rymer, Jr. of Kennesaw, GA; three grandchildren Rob Jr. and Christopher Hoce and Taylor Rymer; two great grandchildren Levi and Isaiah Hoce; and a sister Opal Brown of Parkersburg.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Thomas Hoce; second husband Nelson E. Rymer, Sr.; and two sisters Eleanor Twyman and Garnet Starcher.
Services will be Tuesday 1:00 PM at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Evangelist David Newberry officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens.

Nelson E. Rymer Sr.
Nelson E. Rymer Sr., 68, of Parkersburg died Nov. 25, 2007, at the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Harrisville, the son of the late Kathleen Rymer. He had been employed by the Wood County Board of Education as a school bus driver for 30 years. In the early 1970's he worked as the First Santa Claus at the Grand Central Mall, where he was brought in by helicopter. He was a member of the Lubeck Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Thelma M. Twyman Rymer of Parkersburg; his sons, Robert Hoce Rymer and his wife, Patty, of Reedsville, Ohio, Gregory A. Rymer and his wife, Janice, of Mineral Wells and Nelson E. Rymer II of Kenasaw, Ga.; his grandchildren, Robbie and Christopher Hoce, Kyle, Matthew, Jacob, Anna, Elizabeth and Taylor Rymer; his great-grandsons, Levi and Isaiah Hoce; and his sisters-in-law, Opal Brown and Garnet Starcher of Parkersburg.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one sister-in-law, Eleanor Twyman.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg. Interment will be in the Sunset Memory Gardens with full military graveside rites by the Parkersburg American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Wednesday.

BIOGRAPHY:
In 1782 after the Revolutionary War, he moved to Washington County, Pennsylvania (now Greene County) and then he moved to Monroe County, Ohio, and built a cabin in Malaga Township before 1815. The town of Malaga was laid out by John Hendershot. The first settlers of Malaga Township were the families of John Hendershot, Stillwell Truax, Mathew Rogers, Martin Fogle, Frederick Hayes, Peter Mann, David Mann, William Kennard, James Graham and David Lupton. This was before 1815. The first election in Malaga Township was held at the home of Peter Mann in 1820. There were 22 votes cast, among them were the names of John and Jonathon Hendershot.
