Frank M. Hornyak 1919-2010
PITTSFIELD
Frank M. Hornyak, 91, of 1446 West Street, Pittsfield, died Wednesday at home on his family farm. Born on May 6, 1919 in Pittsfield, he was the son of the late Joszeph and Thersea Leport Hornyak. A lifelong resident of Pittsfield, he was educated in Pittsfield schools. He married his wife, the late Gertrude M. Hodlin on May 10, 1952 at St. Mark Church in Pittsfield. She died on August 31, 2008. A longtime farmer, he had worked on his family farm on West Street for sixty years until it was destroyed by fire. He then went on to work as an oil delivery man for the former Harrison Oil Company. After Harrison Oil closed he went on to drive for the Sweatland Oil Company. He had also worked as school crossing guard for ten years. He retired in 1991. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and trapping. A longtime New York Yankee fan he also enjoyed traveling and vacationing to Florida with his late wife. He leaves two sons; David Hornyak and his wife Susan of Pittsfield and John Hornyak also of Pittsfield. He also leaves his four granddaughters; Lori Lynn of Phoenix, Ariz., Trina Jean of New Orleans, La., Cheryl Lynne of Pittsfield and Michaela Shelby also of Pittsfield. He was "Uncle Papa" to Annie Maloney and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers; Joseph and John Hornyak, late of South Norwalk, Conn. and Stephen Hornyak, late of Pittsfield. He was also predeceased by a sister, Helen Hornyak, late of Pittsfield. FUNERAL NOTICE: A private graveside service for Frank M. Hornyak who died December 15, 2010 will be held in Pittsfield Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations in memory of Mr. Hornyak may be made to the charity of one's choice in care of the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201 which is in charge of arrangements.

PITTSFIELD
Gertrude M. Hornyak, 76, of 1446 West Street died Sunday, Aug. 31, at Berkshire Medical Center, with her family by her side. Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 19, 1932, a daughter of Walter and Emily Hinckley Hodlin, she was educated in local schools and was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. Mrs. Hornyak was employed as an envelope machine operator at the former Eaton Paper Company where she worked for 40 years until retiring in 1988 when the factory closed. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and building puzzles. She also enjoyed traveling to Florida, especially to Disney World. She leaves her husband, Frank M. Hornyak, whom she married May 10, 1952, in St. Mark Church. Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, David M. Hornyak and his wife, Susan "Rainbow," of Pittsfield, and John M. Hornyak of Pittsfield; a brother, Joseph Hodlin of Pittsfield; four granddaughters, Lori Lynn of Pittsfield, Trina Jean of New Orleans, Cheryl Lynne of Pittsfield, and Michaela Shelby of Pittsfield; and several nieces and nephews. She was "Aunt Grama Gerk" to her sweet and beloved great-niece, Annie Maloney, who is the daughter of her niece, Lisa Croshier. She was predeceased by two sisters, Florence Hodlin and Phyllis Croshier, both of Pittsfield. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services for Gertrude M. Hornyak, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hornyak of 1446 West Street. The ceremony will take place at 9 AM in St. Mark's Church, and a reception will follow at Polish Falcon Hall.
Mrs. Robert Armstrong will be matron of honor. Bridesmaides will be Mrs. Edson R. Croshier, sister of the bride-elect; her cousin, Miss Catherine Hinckley, and Mrs. Edward Dombrowski. Diane Dombrowski will be
the flower girl.

James Edward Santee Sr., 70, of Valley Mills, Parkersburg, passed away unexpectedly Dec. 25, 2009.
He was born in Ritchie County in 1939, the son of the late Howard P. and Dorothy Deem Santee. He was employed at Union Insulating for 26 years until it closed in 1990.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Patricia J. Phillips Santee, three children; James E. Santee Jr. and his wife, Patsy, Pamela K. Santee, Carta D. Van Way; a special nephew Michael W Phillips and his wife, Suzette; 10 grandchildren, Joni Santee, Rebecca Santee, Samantha Santee, Thomas Green II, Tabitha Harbrecht and her husband, Joseph, Tracy Jodon and her husband, Chad, Alexandra VanWay, Joshua VanWay and his wife, Jessica, Eriq Gulley, Grade Gulley and Makayla Phillips; 10 greatgrandchildren; sister,. Barbara Payne and her husband, Leroy; and two other sisters; a brother; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his oldest brother, Kenneth Santee.
There were no funeral services, and in keeping with his wishes, he was cremated.

Betty Ruth Santee, 76 of Parkersburg passed away March 7, 2016 at the Camden Clark Medical Center Memorial Campus.
She was born in Wood Co. WV. the daughter of the late James Franklin and Georgia VanCamp O'Brien.
She had worked for many years as Manager of the B.P. Service Station in Parkersburg and was a member of the Crossroads United Methodist Church.
She had been very active in the Boyscouts of America and loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her sons, Stephen Santee (Hope) of Indianapolis, Indiana and Howard Santee (Kim) of Parkersburg. Her grandchildren, Kale Santee of Parkersburg and Kendall Santee (Sarah) of Maple Hills, NC. Her brother, John O'Brien of Walker and her sister, Ella Rose Tuttle (Albert) of Vienna, WV. One great grandson, Liam Cole Santee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Presley Santee.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00am at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg. Burial will be in the Shiloh Cemetery.

Barbara J. (Santee) Payne, 70, of Parkersburg, passed away Friday, October 3, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Parkersburg, August 3, 1944 a daughter of the late Howard Presley Santee and Dorothy Lavada Deem Santee.
Barbara was a homemaker, had a strong spiritual belief and especially enjoyed being outdoors. She loved to buy and sell antiques and enjoy her indoor pets, Sophie and Brutus.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Leroy Payne, whom she married April 11, 1978; one daughter, Vickie Lee Powell (Jim) of Knoxville TN ; two sons, Robert E. Witt (Laurie) of Broken Arrow, OK and Chris H. Barker (Lori) of Hagerstown, MD; two sisters, Sue Mackey and Nancy Caltrider; one brother, Gary Santee; eleven grandchildren, Daniel, Caylie, Jonathan and Jessica Witt, Ryan and Ashley Caskey, Abigail and Katherine Powell, Kaitlin and Christopher Barker and Wyatt Lenhart; two great-grandchildren, Brody and Lilly James.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Paul K. Witt and two brothers.
