OBITUARY:
 Mary Alda Copen 98, of Elizabeth, passed away Jan. 20, 2016 at Parkersburg Care Center after an extended illness.
 She was born in Wirt County, the daughter of the late James and Lena Bush Fluharty. She was a homemaker most of her life and a devoted wife and mother, but later in life she was a home care provider and a babysitter. She enjoyed quilting and gardening.
 She is survived by children: Richard Copen and his wife MaryAnn and Donald Copen and his wife Linda, both of Elizabeth, and Donna Yonkins and her husband Kenneth of Palestine; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Copen; grandson, Scott Yonkins; five brothers; three sisters; one infant brother, and one infant sister.
 Services were Tuesday at Matheny Whited Funeral Home in Elizabeth with the Rev. Dean Ash officiating. Interment was in the K of P Cemetery in Elizabeth.

 Harold L. Ash, 89, of Elizabeth went to be with the Lord March 30, 2005, at his residence.
 He was born March 20, 1916, in Wirt County, a son of the late Roy and Charity Nutter Ash.  He worked at Curtice Wright Propeller of Beaver, Pa., B&L Marble Co. of Bedford, Ohio, Johns Manville, American Viscose, both of Parkersburg, and Welch Oil Co.  He last attended Pine Twist Baptist Church.
 He is survived by two sons, the Rev. Dean Ash and Shirley, and the Rev. Randy Ash and wife, Linda; one daughter, Ann Fint and husband, Junior; one daughter-in-law, Linda (Gilbert) Ash, all of Elizabeth; two brothers, Bob Ash of Gallipolis, Ohio, and Paul and Wanda Ash; two sisters, Virginia Shears, Isabel and Jim Goodwin, all of Elizabeth; seven grandchildren and their husbands and wives, Dwane Fint of Parkersburg, Missy Coplin, Gary Ash, Janet and Gary Moore, Susan Garrett and Brian Ash, all of Elizabeth; nine great-grandchildren, Brittany Fint of Houston, Texas, Amber McVey, Ryan and Morgan Litton, Tylor Coplin, Tyler Ash, Matt and Samantha Moore and Zack Garrett, all of Elizabeth.
 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie L. Fluharty Ash of 63 years in 2004; one son, Gilbert D. Ash in 1990; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Wanda Glatz and Emogene Dennis.
 Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Matheny Pomroy Funeral Home, with Pastor Tim Bell officiating.  Burial will follow at Pine Twist Cemetery.  Friends may visit from 2-8 p.m. today.

  ELIZABETH - Nellie L. Fluharty Ash, 83, of Elizabeth went to be with the Lord on March 15, 2004, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
 She was born March 16, 1920, in Wirt County, a daughter of the late James and Lena Bush Fluharty.  She was a homemaker and loving mother.  She last attended New Life Full Gospel Church.
 She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Harold L. Ash; two sons, the Rev. Dean Ash and wife, Shirley, and the Rev. Warren G. Fluharty
 Pastor Warren G. Fluharty, 74, of Parkersburg, died April 19 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
 He was born in Wirt County.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired from Keane Corp. in 1987.  He pastored the Ceterpoint Gospel Mission Church, Pine Twist Baptist church and the Camden Temple for 28 years.
 He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Beulah Dennis Fluharty; one son, Dennis Fluharty of Parkersburg; two daughters, Carolyn Ray of Newardk and Connie Emrick of Parkersburg; two sisters, Alda Copen and Nellie Ash, both of Elizabeth; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
 He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lena Bush Fluharty, five brothers, Dale, George, Floyd, Paul and Charles Fluharty; and three sisters, Mabel Watkins, Delcie Dennis and Lilly Fluharty.
 Services were held April 23 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, south Parkersburg, with the Rev. Raymond Ray officiating.  Burial was in Sunset Memory Gardens with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 15.

Dorothy Beulah DENNIS

OBITUARY:

 Dorothy "Beulah" Fluharty, 87, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2010, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
 She was born Dec. 5, 1922 in Wirt County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Hammond N. and Iva Jenkins Dennis.
 Beulah was a member of the Camden Temple Church. She retired as a child care provider. She loved singing Gospel music and working with her flowers. She also loved spending time with her family and friends.
 She is survived by one son, Dennis Paul Fluharty and wife, Betty of Parkersburg; two daughters, Connie Sue Emrick and husband, Keith of Parkersburg and Carolyn Ray Eakle and husband, Bill of Belpre, Ohio; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pastor Warren Fluharty; and one brother, Denver Dennis.
 Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg with Pastors Dean Ash and Randy Ash officiating.
 Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

 He was born in Wirt County, a son of the late James and Lena Busch [sic] Fluharty.  He retired from Schuller International (John's Manville) after 41 years of service.  He was a memberof Parkersburg Masonic Lodge 3 AF&AM, Pine Twist Baptist Church and attended the House of Prayer, Newark.
 Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Thelma Weaver Fluharty; two sons, Roger D. Fluharty of Lubeck and Richard P. Fluharty of Walker; one daughter, Karen Spears of Walker; one brother, the Rev. Warren Fluharty of Parkersburg; two sisters, Alda Copen and Nellie Ash, both of Elizabeth; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
 He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
 Services 2 p.m. Thursday, Matheny-Pomroy Funeral Home, Elizabeth, the Rev. Raymond Ray officiating.  Burial Pine Twist Cemetery.

 Thelma Louise Fluharty, 90, of Walker, WV went to be with the Lord November 24, 2021 at Camden Clark Medical Center.
 She was born September 21, 1931 in Wirt County, WV, a daughter of Ray I. Weaver and June M. Smith Weaver.
 Thelma was a homemaker and loved to sing in church.
 She is survived by daughter, Karen D. Richards; son, Roger D. Fluharty; sister, Cheryl Roberts; brother, Richard (Madeline) Weaver; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William P. Fluharty; son; Richard Fluharty; brothers, Gerald and Roger (Betty) Valentine; sister, Geneva Maxson; granddaughter, Carrie Jo; great-granddaughter, Abbie and grandson, Joseph.
 Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. South Parkersburg, WV. Burial will follow in the Pine Twist Cemetery in Wirt County. Thelma’s family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home on Monday, November 29, 2021.

OBITUARY:
 Lewis W. Dennis, 78, of Rt. 4, Elizabeth, passed away Monday morning, June 17, in the St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg, after being a patient there since last Wednesday. He had been in poor health for the past several months. He was a member of the Two Ripple Baptist Church. Mr. Dennis is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alice Dennis, and three sons and four daughters, Newton Dennis of Rt. 2, Elizabeth; James Dennis of Rt. 4, Elizabeth; T.E. Dennis of Akron, Ohio; Mrs. Delores Thompson of Parkersburg; Mrs Dorothy Mitchell of Sunberry, Ohio; and Mrs. Ross Williams and Mrs. Carrie Douglas, both of Akron, Ohio. Funeral services were held on Wednesday morning from the Two Ripple Baptist Church with the Rev. H.L. Short of Parkersburg officiating. Interment was made in the church cemetery, Pomroy Funeral Home in charge.

OBITUARY:
 Mrs. Elizabeth Alice Dennis, 89, died Saturday, Sept. 20, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs Demaris Thompson of Parkersburg.
  Born Dec. 10, 1868, in Washington County Ohio, she was the daughter of the late William C. and Mary Miller Burton. She joined the Methodist Church at the age of 14 years and later changed her membership to the Two Ripple Baptist Church. She was married to Lewis W. Dennis Nov. 17, 1888, who preceded her in death on June 17, 1946.
  Survivors include three sons, Hammond N. Dennis, Parkersburg, James L. Dennis; Rt. 4, Elizabeth, and Ted E. Dennis, Maringo, O.; four daughters, Mrs. Rosa Degley, Loudenville, O, Mrs. Dorothy Mitchell, Sunbury, O., Mrs. Carrie Douglas, Copley, O., and Mrs. Demaris Thompson, at whose residence she died; four brothers, Frank, Henry and John Burton, all of Saskatchewan Province, Canada, and Nathan Burton of North Dakota; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
  Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by two sons and four daughters.
  Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at Two Ripple Baptist Church, with the Rev. Richard W. Battin of Parkersburg officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery, with Pomroy Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Hammond Newton DENNIS

OBITUARY:
 Hammond N. "Newt" Dennis, 93, of Parkersburg, died Thursday at St. Joseph's Hospital.
 He was a driller in the oil fields, having worked with W.C. Patterson Oil Co. He also worked for American Viscose. He was a Protestant.
 He is survived by one son, Denver Dennis of Elizabeth; one daughter, Beulah Fluharty of Parkersburg; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
 He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Iva Pearl Dennis; a brother, James Dennis of Elizabeth; a brother, Ted Dennis of Ohio; and four sisters, Rose Douglas, Dorothy Mitchell, Carrie Lewis and Demaris Thompson.
 The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Burial was in Roberts Cemetery, Ritchie County.

OBITUARY:
  Charles E. Dennis, 67, of Delaware passed on unexpectedly to his heavenly eternal home Thursday evening August 1, 2013.
  He was born November 6, 1945 in Akron, Ohio to Teddy E. and Delcie G. (Fluharty) Dennis.
  Chuck graduated from Elm Valley High School in 1963 and served in the National Guard from 1965 – 1970 earning the rank of sergeant. He retired from the US Postal Service in 2011 after 22 years of service. He had previously worked at Natures Plant Food in Marion as plant manager and Glenwood Range Co. as production control manager.
  Chuck was a kind hearted, gentle man who loved and lived for his family. He dearly loved his grandchildren and great granddaughter and enjoyed attending and watching their various sporting events. Chuck enjoyed gardening, bowling, and in his younger years golfing. He was loved by all and truly loved helping others. He will be greatly missed, but we have peace in knowing he is now in his heavenly home.
  Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 46 years, Joyce (Furay); children, Linda Dennis-Perry, Brenda Johns, and Teddy C. Dennis; 6 grandchildren, Jessica, Stephanie, Jeff, Ryan, Aly, and Teddy; and recently blessed with a precious angel and great granddaughter, Aubrianna; sister, Betty Alvey; brother, John Dennis; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
  The family will receive friends on Monday August 5th from 1 – 3 pm at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William Street, Delaware. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. Greg Rice officiating. Burial will follow in Alum Creek Cemetery.
