OBITUARY:
James Pritchett, of Lizton, Indiana, who came to the state more than eighty years ago, when log cabins stood where now the finest business blocks in the city stand facing Washington Street, died Friday afternoon, Jan. 16, 1908, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. S. E. Howard, 808 North Oriental Street, in Indianapolis. Mr. Pritchett was 87 years old.
At the time when he came to this state with his parents - just a lad of six years - and settled in Hendricks County, the trip had to be made on horseback. The entire county round about their home was a wilderness, in which his father and mother were among the first settlers. During his life, he had been a member of the Methodist Church in Lizton, and from this church, the funeral services were held Sunday morning at 11 o'clock. About him when he died were all of his six surviving children and three brothers and three sisters. The burial took place at North Salem, Indiana at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon.
