OBITUARY:
Bob Hollis has the original handwritten copy of his obituary, which states:
"William A. Martin was born March 22nd 1822, departed this life May 22 1907 aged 85 years 2 months and twelve days. He was united in marriage to Patience Knowles August 22 1846. To this union nine children were born, namely Philip, John, Jas. E., Solomon L., Nancy F., Patsy I., Emma O., Theodore J. and Mary S., four of whom with the mother have preceded him to the great beyond. He leaves four sons and one daughter, one brother and one sister and Eighteen grand children and twenty great grand children with a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his departure. The subject of this sketch was born on the farm where he spent his entire life. He was noted for his industrious habits, his genial disposition and his great love of home."BURIAL:

BIOGRAPHY:
According to records in the Cox Collection, at Willard Library, Evansville, IN, she was born on the day her sister Patience (1st) was killed. The name Patience was a prominent one, having come down through the Marvel and Prettyman lines, and it is reasonable to assume her parents did not want it to pass out of the family, so they gave the new baby the name of the child who died.
